Everyone sits on the floor to have food, whether you are a king or a pauper. You are supposed to be eating a holy meal with your brothers and sisters and don't need the luxury of eating meat. It is not necessary here. So why do it? We are allowed to eat meat at home. It is not forbidden.

Equality is a very important aspect in the Sikh religion. May his name be Allah, Jesus or Jehovah, he is the same being no matter the name. Anybody who is hungry can come and eat here (at the temple). Anybody who is cold can come and take shelter. Anybody who is sick can come in and seek medication. And they can seek an education ? all that for anybody here?. We would never turn anyone away.
