Missouri could make huge strides by adopting a state version of the Federal False Claims Act. Millions now wasted by (Medicaid) provider fraud would be available to provide health care to low-income Missouri parents, the elderly and those with disabilities. In 2005, approximately 90,000 low-income Missourians lost their health insurance due to cuts in the Medicaid program.
