We are excited by the amount of interest we have had in our programs and the possibility of opening a local Learning Center in the Scottsdale community. This overview is an excellent opportunity for parents and educators to learn how a person's sensory system is connected to learning, and how focusing on processing, rather than methods, can make a significant difference in an individual's learning in a relatively short time period.

Transit to anywhere made her feel insecure, and because she was not verbal, she would have tantrums. It was her only way to express herself. So by using input from the sensory room to improve how she tolerated movement, we were able to get all of those behaviors to decrease. Right now, she is much better about those transitions, and it's much less traumatic for her and for the people working with her.

The goal is to pay attention to sensory experience, rather than to your thoughts about the sensory experience. For example, if you suddenly hear a noise, you just listen to it rather than thinking about it. If your leg falls asleep, you just notice the physical sensations. If nothing is there, you pay attention to your breathing.
