It's very unglamorous, but public transportation may be an answer for a short while. They need six months to see how their work lives develop. Then they will have a better idea of what they can and cannot afford.

I moved to Michigan in 1986 after 10 years in New York... Whatever star I had was rising (at the time), but Kathleen and I made the decision that family would come first and career second.
