We lost the game in the first half, when we didn't match Moline's intensity. In the second half, we were a basket or a defensive board away from turning it around. It was a gutsy move to bring Thomas back with six minutes left in the game. Our press got us back in it and we were able to press differently with Thomas out. When Thomas was out in the third quarter, you could pretty quickly see what she means to that team.

Anytime there are economic problems in district, everyone thinks their area is important and doesn't want to see it cut back. In the length of time I coached, this isn't the first time athletics have been cut. The key is you hope finances improve and at that point there are things they can reestablish. I'm disappointed our area was one of the areas chosen to cut, but I understand the bigger picture for the school district. Cuts had to be made.
